My family will be going to WDW on 3/25/08. I decided at the last minute to try character dining but was unable to get reservations. What are the chances that we could squeeze in on a cancellation after we arrive or show up and wait it out? Thanks.

It really depends which character dining you wanted to try.  I'm sorry to tell you, but some of the popular ones you may never get into without an advanced reservations.

The ones I have had the best luck getting into at the last minute are Cape May Cafe, and PlayHouse Disney's Play 'n' Dine at Hollywood and Vine

Any castmember at a restaurant podium can help you with reservations throughout WDW.  The best bet will be to try at off hours.  I often have lunch at 2:30 or dinner at 7:30.  If you try to go to Crystal Palace for example, they will tell you how long you can expect to wait or if they are just too booked and have nothing available.

    Good luck
