My family are going to be visting Disney in Sep. of 2009. My Little Girl will be going for the frist time. She will be 19 months old. Is there anything you can tell me to make our trip to go smooth!!

    Hi Ashley,

Both of my kids visited Disney before their second birthdays.  Here are some of my "mom tips" for having a successful first visit with a toddler:

    • Take your own stroller.  Your daughter is probably comfortable in it, and you will need "wheels" in areas outside the park where strollers aren't available for rent (like the airport, walking around your resort, etc.)
    • Try to keep to your daughter's schedule to the best of your ability.  I found that naps were even more critical to "balance" all the excitement of Disney.  My kids were great about napping in their strollers, so a trip back to the resort isn't always necessary, but a nap is key!
    • If it's warm when you travel, purchase a "clip-on" fan for her stroller.  These are life savers when it's really hot. I also had a "canopy extender" that went on top of my regular canopy and provided a ton more shade.
    • Bring a soft cooler bag with frozen juice boxes, sippy cups, etc. to make sure you don't have to wait on a concession line each time she needs a drink.  Also be sure to pack some easy snacks to "whip out" whenever hunger calls.
    • Feel free to make an itinerary, and do some planning (certainly make dining reservations), but be prepared to "go with the flow".  If your daughter loves It's a Small World and wants to go three times in a row, indulge her even if it means forgoing the next item on your "to do" list.
    • If your baby has a "lovey", make sure it goes along on vacation!  We forgot ours once ...yikes!

Many of Disney's attractions have no height restrictions, so your little princess will be able to ride a whole bunch of rides!  Be prepared with your camera, because your photo albums are about to be stuffed with lots of magical memories!

    Have a great time!
