Family on Expedition Everest

My family is visiting WDW this summer. We have 4 kids ranging in age from 6-12 and want to use the single rider lines when possible to maximize our time at the park. Since that means that we will be split up, I want to make sure they can ride on their own.

Hello, Terry! Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Taking advantage of the Single Rider Lines is a great idea for maximizing your time at the Theme Parks during your Walt Disney World Resort vacation. Please be advised, though, that there are currently only three attractions with this option: Test Track at Epcot (with a minimum height requirement of 40”), Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park (with a minimum height requirement of 44”) and Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith at Disney’s Hollywood Studios (with a minimum height requirement of 48”). Keep an ear out while you wait for some attractions like Space Mountain, Avatar Flight of Passage or Star Tours - The Adventures Continue as sometimes Cast Members will look for parties of one, two or three to fill in available space. For all Walt Disney World Resort attractions, children must be at least 7 years old to ride alone, and children under 7 must be accompanied by someone 14 or older.

If the Single Rider option won’t work for your entire family, I would recommend taking advantage of your FastPass+ reservation options for those attractions you’d all like to experience together. If you’re staying at an official Walt Disney World Resort hotel, you can book your FastPass+ experiences up to 60 days in advance of your check-in date, and if you’re an off-site Guest you can book up to 30 days in advance of each day of your vacation. Another option might be to split up for some rides where one parent takes the younger children to one attraction while the other parent enjoys another with the older kids.

If there’s a ride you’d all like to experience together (but you find yourselves waiting in the standby queue), consider downloading the Play Disney Parks app for your smartphones to play while you wait. The app is full of games and trivia to keep you occupied in line, and you can earn badges and bonus rewards you can then redeem to purchase special items like commemorative pins.

Enjoy your visit to the Walt Disney World Resort, Terry, and let us know if you have any other questions as you continue to plan your vacation to The Most Magical Place on Earth.
