Hi my family is visiting on a very tight budget. Any suggestions on ways to save money eating. We will be buying some meals, but i was wondering on tips for items to keep in hotel room at POPC to substitute some meals. 3 kids about $500 for 7 days eating.

    Hi, Janette!

You are off to a great start saving money by staying at Pop Century. Check the Special Offers page for any discounts that might be available for your vacation dates. Book a Standard Room, and do not add expensive options on your ticket like park hopping.  From home, bring autograph books, pens, and rain ponchos (all can be found at your local dollar store.) This will be a HUGE savings compared to the parks.

One of the best deals at WDW are the kids meals!  Most kids' meals (which I enjoy!) are $7 or less, and include your entree/drink/sides.  Some adult meals are often way too much food for one person and will be perfect to share. Check out the menus before ordering to get the best value. Soft drinks and bottled water can get expensive, but cups of ice water are always free at counter service locations. If you order a soft drink at a counter service location in the parks, order a large size and ask for extra cups and share.

You may bring food into the parks, just no large coolers, bottles, or alcoholic beverages. I like to carry a small, soft sided insulated tote.  Bring some ziploc bags so you can fill them with ice to keep your bag cool. Pack PB&J's , and include some goldfish crackers, a few juice boxes, and you will have a tasty lunch.

Pick up a loaf of bread (and other basic food items) at your hotel.  A quick dash to the food court in the morning and make toast. From home, pack granola bars and snacks in your suitcase for a quick grab and go breakfast.  If you have room, toss in a box of cereal so you can munch on that.

Think of what your kids will eat, what will travel well, and items that won't melt in the hot Florida sun!  By planning ahead, you will stay on budget during your vacation.   Have fun!
