My family is visiting for first time Jan. 3-10 2011, staying at ASM, using bus transportation. Kids are 7 and 5, and prone to getting tired out. I'm concerned that busing back back and forth might cut into our park time. Should I be? Best options for rest?

Hi, Stephen!   When traveling to Walt Disney World, we all want to spend as MUCH time as possible in the parks.   However, if the kids are tired, nobody is going to have much fun!

If you find your kids are getting a bit worn out, head back to your resort.   An hour of downtime in the room can work wonders!   If you really want to avoid afternoon breaks, then make an effort to have the kids to bed early each night so they have plenty of rest.   Make sure they stay on their usual meal schedule, drink plenty of water, and remember they have little legs and it can be hard to keep up with adults who are walking quickly!   You may even want to get a double stroller to give them a rest from all the walking.

I like to give my kids one or two "sleep in days" so they don't get over tired.   I do this on days we have early lunch reservations in a theme park then we can make it for a really good stretch of time in the parks without an afternoon break.

Just keep an eye on your kids and take breaks if needed!   Have a great time during your New Year's Vacation!
