Our family will be visiting Disney next year. Four adults and two five year old boys. We are trying to decide which time of year ould be best for crowds and prices. Does disney usually offer discount rooms rates for the low volume times in the spring.

    Hi Amy,

Thanks so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question!

A good rule of thumb is that both prices and crowds will be lower when children are in school. Typically June and July are busy, as well as into August until children start to return to school. Other typically busy times of year include holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's, and especially around Spring Break, which typically is the couple of weeks before and after Easter. Since Easter is on April 20 in 2014, if you are thinking of going significantly before or after that, you might find somewhat lower crowds and prices. Also, please note that while the prices of Walt Disney World Resort rooms will vary throughout the year, the prices of theme park admission are constant and will not change throughout the year. Since you have 5-year-old boys, I am not sure if they are in school yet, or how you feel about pulling them out of school for a few days for a vacation. That is a personal decision that each family needs to make.

I do suggest that you monitor the Disney World Special Offers webpage. This page will list any upcoming offers for Walt Disney World vacations, including discounts on resort rooms, which often happen in the less crowded seasons. I really like the unofficial website For a small fee, you will have access to their predicted crowds at Walt Disney World, which cover almost a year in advance. Also, the unofficial site has some information on the overall seasons for 2014 at Walt Disney World. Visit that site and search "2014 price seasons" for the information.

I hope that this information is helpful for you, Amy. Have a great time planning your vacation, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
