My family will be visiting Disney for our first time in June 2016. 2 Adults and 2 Children ages 3 and 7, not picky eaters at all. I was thinking about getting a Dining plan how can I decide which plan fits our needs or if it's even cost effective.

    Hi Jill,

Congratulations on your very first Walt Disney World vacation! You have come to the right spot to begin your vacation planning. In my opinion the standard Disney Dining Plan which features one snack, one Quick-Service meal, and one Table-Service meal per day is perfect for most families and is an especially good value for families who have children under the age of 10. The cost for one day's worth of food for a child with Disney Dining Plan quite often costs the same or less than one character meal alone. This fact alone makes the Disney Dining Plan a great option for families with young children. Character meals allow my family to have a nice air conditioned break and visit our favorite characters at the same time. While we sit back and enjoy our meal, the characters circulate and stop at each table for photo opportunities, hugs, and autographs. Since I usually book several character meals for our vacations we tend to spend less time waiting in line to visit the characters in the parks and focus more on rides and shows. This is a win-win in my book!

Jill there are two other dining plans which are available and they are the Quick-Service Dining Plan and the Deluxe Dining Plan. The Quick-Service Dining Plan allows 2 Quick-service meals and 1 snack per day. Since this plan doesn't accommodate for Table-Service restaurants it's not usually a good choice for us. The other plan is the Deluxe Dining Plan which allows 3 Table-Service meals and 2 snacks per day. I have found that this plan is just too much food for us and additionally we had less time for attractions since we spent more time dining at Table-Service restaurants.

    Have a Disney Day!
