Our family has visited Walt Disney World 6 times. Our daughter is turning 12 years old a week before our trip. What "new" ideas can you give us to make her day special. We know about the birthday button. We will be staying at Bay Lake for 10

Sarah, this is certainly a fun question to answer. The ideas are swirling in my head and I think I have a few to offer. Now, I can't promise that they are "new" to you, but I'll do my best!

First, might I suggest contacting the Disney Florist to order a surprise to be waiting for your birthday girl upon arrival into your room. They can do all sort of things from decorating the room to having a simple treat basket on the bed! To see their selections, visit www.disneyflorist.com.

My next idea would be to treat her to a "grown up" meal at a fancier restaurant such as Artist Point at Wilderness Lodge or Narcoossee's at the Grand Floridian. Even though my kids aren't quite 12 yet, they love getting all dressed up and "fancy" to dine someplace special. You could also call the cake hotline at (407) 827-2253 to arrange for a birthday cake.

If she isn't into getting all dressed up for a nice night out, what about heading over to Beaches and Cream Soda Shop at the Yacht and Beach Club? Instead of dinner and birthday cake, you could splurge on the Kitchen Sink or my favorite sundae, the No Way Jose (chocolate and peanut butter sundae) and let that be your main course! After this unconventional dinner, you could watch a movie under the stars. On designated evenings, classic Disney movies are shown at the beaches or pool areas of some of the resorts and the Yacht and Beach club is one of them. Check with the concierge or guest relations when you arrive to find out which days specifically it is offered. It is free to guests and would be a fun way to finish out a special celebratory night that she might not be expecting!

So, on behalf of the Disney Parks Moms Panel, happy early birthday to your daughter. May all her magical wishes come true!
