my family will be using the magical express to get back and forth to the airport,id like to know how the disney magical express baggage pick up works.Do you recommend this service, i dont want to have missing bags, im very worried about this process.

    Hi Lauren!

Thank you for sending in your question to the Walt Disney World Moms Panel.

Disney's Magical Express (DME) provides free transportation between Orlando International Airport and Walt Disney World.  It also provides luggage service.  What happens is you will be mailed DME luggage tag before leaving for Walt Disney World.  You attached those luggage tags at your home airport.  Then when you land in Orlando, your luggage will be picked up by DME and delivered to your hotel room.  While things can always go wrong, most guests love the service.  The only complaint I usually here is some guests don't realize it can be hours before their luggage show up in their room.

However, you can still use Disney's Magical Express and not use the luggage service.  In this case, you do not use the DME luggage tags.  Instead, when you land, you go to the luggage claim area and pick up your bags yourself just as if you were flying anywhere else in the country.  Then you take your luggage to the Disney's Magical Express Welcome Center where you and your luggage will be loaded on the same bus (because you actually load your luggage yourself).  This guarantees that you and your luggage show up at your resort together and at the same time.  If your room is ready, then you just put your luggage in your room; if your room is not ready, then you can leave your luggage with Bell Services.

I use Disney's Magical Express once in a while; whenever I do use it, I always pick up my luggage myself.  I like the idea of knowing my luggage is definitely on its way to Walt Disney World and I don't like the idea that I might have to wait several hours for it if I let it be delivered on its own.

I hope this helps!  Write back with more questions!
