    Hi Ryan!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I am thrilled to hear that you all are thinking of planning a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort!

We have often traveled in July and generally started planning about one year in advance. If this is your first trip or you have not visited in a while, I do suggest that you take a look at the current vacation package options to get a sense of what you might want to include in your package. I would recommend a resort hotel, theme park tickets and one of the Disney Dining Plans. We also review the current Special Offers for the month we plan to visit even if it is a year ahead of our visit. Even though prices could be different by the time we book our vacation package, checking in advance gives us a sense of what prices might be so that we can start saving!

My family prefers resort hotels that have multiple transportation options, particularly the resort hotels with access to the Resort Monorail. We love Disney's Contemporary Resort because we can walk to Magic Kingdom and Disney's Polynesian Village Resort, our favorite resort, also has access to the resort monorail. On our last trip we stayed at Disney's BoardWalk Villas because we wanted to be able to walk to Epcot and Disney's Hollywood Studios, especially because Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge was on our must-do list for that trip. When we have traveled on a tighter budget, we stayed at one of the Value Resort Hotels or Moderate Resort Hotels and had a blast. Our favorite moderate resort hotel is Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and our favorite Value Resort Hotel is Disney's Pop Century Resort which has access to the Disney Skyliner.

As you consider your budget, I recommend the Disney Dining Plan. It offers everyone on the plan one quick-service meal entitlement, one table-service meal entitlement and two snacks or non-alcoholic beverages per night of stay. It also includes a resort refillable mug. We use these mugs to enjoy drinks while at the pool or while we relax at the resort.

Ryan, know that you definitely should have your vacation package booked at least 180 days in advance so that you can make dining reservations 180 days prior to your trip for the length of your stay (up to 10 days) if staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel. Some restaurants like Be Our Guest Restaurant will get booked months in advance. As you plan, be sure to create a My Disney Experience Account so that you can link your vacation package, dining reservations, and FastPass+ selections for rides.

May the Force be with you as you plan for teenagers!

    Magic and memories,
