My family and I will be traveling to Disney World Jan 31st-Feb 4th 2013. There will be 6 adults and 3 children ages 4 & 6 (girls) in our group. It's our first big trip to Disney and my first trip since 1996. Any advice for things we should or shouldn't

I'm so excited for you and your family Nikki!  You are going to be amazed by the changes that have taken place at Walt Disney World since 1996.  Here's my list of "dos" and "don'ts" for your upcoming trip:

    Do:

Plan where you'd like to dine soon so that you can book advance dining reservations up to 180 days in advance of your trip.  Because you are a group of nine, reservations at table service restaurants will be incredibly helpful.

Take your kids for at least one character dining experience.  It's a fabulous place to have one-on-one time with your favorite Disney characters.

Arrive at park opening time each day to make the most of short lines to attractions.

Take an autograph book and pen for each of your kids.  It's a great place to keep photos and memories from your trip.

    Don't:

Setting unrealistic expectations for the trip can be very frustrating.  Don't expect to see and do everything in one trip.  I've been visiting for 35 years and I still haven't seen and done it all.  Ask everyone in your group for a list of 2-3 things they simply must see while at Walt Disney World.  Incorporate these attractions into your itinerary.  Anything you cover beyond this list is just a wonderful bonus.

Don't forget to take naps or some other form of rest mid-day.  Everyone will be in better spirits if they are rested.

Don't stick so closely to a schedule that you miss all the opportunities for spontaneous magic that may unfold.

    Another do:
