My family and I are will be traveling to Disney this April. I have been in the past although it has been awhile ago and so much has changed with the fast pass. We are not staying on the grounds. I was wanting to know exactly how fast pass works now?

Although the idea of FastPass+ is essentially the same as the old legacy FastPasses--you can skip the standby lines if you'll choose to visit certain attractions at scheduled times--there are several things that are different:

    • The new FP+ system allows those park guests who purchase their tickets ahead of time to reserve three FastPass attractions before their visit to the park. It was just announced that any guest--even if you are not staying on Disney property--can make those reservations up to 30 days ahead. For those staying on Disney property, they can make FP+ selections up to 60 days ahead.
    • You can now change your times and even FP+ attractions on your phone with the Disney Mobile App.
    • The new FP+ has almost doubled the number of attractions where you can get this VIP treatment, including must-dos like parades and Character Meets.
    • Currently, you select three FP+ attractions, whereas before you could select more once your next FP "window" opened.

For my family, getting to enjoy their favorite attractions like Toy Story Mania and Soarin' meant getting up at the crack of dawn to get to the parks for a FastPass before they were out before lunch. We joked that sometimes we needed a vacation FROM our vacation. But with the new FP+ system, we can reserve our favorites in advance and enjoy our mornings a little more leisurely.

Disney continues to improve the service, so keep a check here or at under My Disney Experience for updates.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
