    Rosemary from FL Asked

My family and I are thinking about staying at the Fort Wilderness campgrounds. I'm having trouble finding what's there for the kids to do. So far all I can find is Chip-n-Dale sing-a-long. What else is there? How do I find it online to show my hubby? Thx!

Hi Rosemary! My husband and I are presently staying in our motor coach at Fort Wilderness campgrounds. For the last few years when our kids and grandkids come for a visit all they want to do is stay in the cabins here at this resort. That is a huge surprise since we have been frequent Yacht Club guests over the years.

The atmosphere at Fort Wilderness is one of the winning points for a stay. It is quiet and friendly and after a day in a busy park with thousands of other guests it is a pleasure to return to a peaceful room. This resort is similar to all of the other Disney resorts on property. They have two pools with one being the larger main one that includes a splash zone, kiddy pool, and water slide. There is also a hot tub at each of the pools.  There are tennis courts and a large play area where every day the lifeguards encourage the kids to enjoy different activities around the pool or in the grass areas.  Right next door is the Bike Barn where you can rent fishing poles, canoes, and bikes. One of my favorite activities is to take a canoe through the internal canals where you likely will spot a deer or a turkey and never see another guest until your return. There is a mile path where you can also bike between Fort Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge.

Chip and Dale's Campfire Singalong is located here and is always followed by a movie under the stars. There are multiple playgrounds and a real must is to stop and visit the Disney stables where Cinderella's ponies as well as the big draft horses call home. Pony rides are available for those under 48" and regular horseback rides are in Ft Wilderness for those a little older. There is a full marina where you can rent the sea raycer boats or pontoon boats and you can reserve a private fishing guide for a few hours if you choose.

If the budget allows consider renting a golf cart and simply google Ft Wilderness on line to see reviews that you can share with your husband.
