Family with Mickey and Minnie

My family is thinking about a Disneyland/California Adventure trip in August of 2018. My wife, 3 kids, and my parents would be joining us. We like to rest in the afternoon if possible, to swim/nap/etc. How many days would allow us to see everything?

    Hi, Adam!

It is so exciting to be planning a trip to the Happiest Place on Earth! You and your family are going to love all the magic that Mickey Mouse has waiting for you!

For a first visit, I would plan on 3 days of exploring the theme parks. Since the two parks are just steps apart, I suggest adding on the Park Hopper option so you can easily change parks throughout the day. The Disneyland Resort hotels are all within walking distance of the parks, so mid-day breaks are no problem.

On your arrival day, use that time to enjoy the Downtown Disney District. There is plenty of shopping, dining, and entertainment for everyone to enjoy. Get a good night's rest, then hit the parks bright and early the next day!

To maximize the time in the parks, make sure to take advantage of Disney's FASTPASS service. This will allow you to zip through the lines. For even more convenience, try Disney's MaxPass where you can make FASTPASS selections on the Disneyland app on your smartphone (fee per guest/per day for MaxPass).

Let us know if you have any planning questions as you get ready for your trip to the Disneyland Resort!
