My family of 4 will be staying at WDW for 7 nights and has purchased the dining plan. I am wondering if it is worth it to upgrade our dining plan to the Delux dining plan? I'm concerned we will not eat enough to justify the cost.

    Hi Kimberly,

In my opinion, the Deluxe Dining Plan makes sense if you plan to eat the vast majority of your meals at table-service restaurants, and plan to dine at some of the signature dining establishments (these are Disney's fine dining restaurants, including California Grille, Jiko, Flying Fish, and Artist Point.)  If your family will be having lots of character meals, table-service lunches and a few "fancy" dinners, then I think the plan is a great value.  The signature dining restaurants require two meal credits, but you have so many that you should have plenty.  Everyone on the plan can chose an appetizer, entree, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage at each meal.  In addition, each person gets two snacks per day and a refillable resort mug.

If your family plans to have quick breakfasts (i.e., milk and cereal or a danish and coffee) and mostly counter-service restaurants, I'd stick with the basic plan.

Both plans will leave you and everyone in your party very full, I promise!  There are a number of posts about the meal plans (and whether they make sense for a given family) on this site, so feel free to search for other panelists' views as well!

    Have a wonderful vacation!
