Hello! :) My family will be staying at the cabins in November, And I was wondering what the easiest way to get to cape May would be with a wheelchair. Approx. How long should I plan for travel time? Is the water taxi's wheelchair accessible? Thank you.

    Wayne:

I have to be honest with you that the trip is not going to be a convenient one if you rely solely on Disney transportation, and not just because someone in your party is in a wheelchair... Cape May Cafe is located at the Beach Club Resort near Epcot, so it won't be accessible by a water taxi from Fort Wilderness which is a Magic Kingdom resort.

I would suggest one of two routes, but first consider that you will probably need to ride the internal bus at Fort Wilderness to the Outpost bus stop to begin your journey. This initial transfer alone could take up to 30 minutes with wait times and lock times for your chair. Once you're at the Outpost Bus stop at the front of the fort, take either a bus to Downtown Disney and then transfer to the bus headed to Beach Club or take the bus to Disney's Hollywood Studios and transfer to the boat that will take you to Beach Club. I'd give yourself at least an hour to an hour and a half for the total transfer.

If you decide that your time is more valuable than all of the transfers, I recommend getting a taxi with the fort's front desk's help and letting them know you have someone in your party in a wheelchair. There are wheelchair-accessible taxis and the ride is only 15 minutes from Fort Wilderness to the Beach Club.

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
