    Deanna Asked

My family and I have stayed at the Caribbean Beach Resort and Coronado Springs. Both were great. We are considering staying at one of the Port Orleans resorts in 2013. Are they as family friendly? Our girls will be 5 and 8.

    Hi Deanna,

In many ways, I think the Port Orleans resorts are even more family friendly than the two you mentioned. I've always preferred Port Orleans because it feels more relaxed and less spread out than some of the other moderate resorts,

Port Orleans Riverside has six swimming pools, a big playground in the middle of the pool complex, a catch-and-release fishing hole, plus bike rentals and carriage rides. The main pool at Port Orleans French Quarter, which is adjacent to Riverside, has one of my daughters' favorite features at any Disney pool: a slide that resembles a sea serpent.

From either resort, it's a short, scenic boat ride to Downtown Disney.

If your daughters like the princesses, you might want to check out the section of Port Orleans Riverside that was renovated into Royal Guest Rooms. The theme's premise is that Princess Tiana's royal friends have stayed here and left mementos behind. The art, wallpaper, carpet, shower curtain and furniture all feature symbols of Disney royalty. Fireworks glitter in the headboards.

My favorite touch is the gold faucets shaped like Genie's lamp.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if I can answer any other questions. Enjoy your visit!
