My family of six is going between Dec. 27th and Dec 30th. We have one special celebration at the California Grill for our son's birthday already booked. Any planning tips or insight for being at WDW this very busy week?

    Hi Lisa,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I have visited Walt Disney World during exactly the time frame you are going - also to celebrate my birthday! You are correct, the time between Christmas and New Year's Day does see lots of guests at Walt Disney World. Let me offer you some of my tips and tricks for having a great time at Walt Disney World during busier times of year.

First, you mention that you already have a special birthday dinner celebration booked, and that is great. I suggest that you make at least one reservation per day for dining at Walt Disney World. I like to have a dining reservation per day booked, and then I know that I have a place that I am excited to dine to sit down for an hour or so each day. If you have not done so already, I suggest that you make these dining reservations now.

Also, be sure to take advantage of Disney FastPass+ service. Using this service, you will be able to make selections for up to three attractions per day of your vacation to experience with shorter wait times. Once you have used all three selections, you can choose a fourth, and after that a fifth, and so on and so forth for the rest of the day, based on availability. I like to make my Disney FastPass+ selections starting mid-morning, and then continue to make more throughout the day.

Finally, I like to arrive at the theme parks early - even 30 minutes or so ahead of opening time. Many guests sleep in on vacation, and this is also true during busy times of year. In the early morning, you can experience theme parks and attractions with fewer other guests, which allows you to get more done.

I hope that these thoughts were helpful for you, Lisa! Please do let us know if you have any further questions.
