My family and I will be running our first runDisney event Dark Side 5K. Staying at BLT is this a host resort ? How will we get to Epcot, monorail or bus ? How strict are they with the 15 min. per mile pace ? My kids will want to stop for pics. TY

    Hi Rebecca!

Thank you for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

For Star Wars Half Marathon- The Dark Side weekend, ALL of the Walt Disney World resorts will be host resorts and provide bus transportation to and from all events.  So, you will be fine at Bay Lake Tower.  For the 5K, there will only be bus transportation (no monorail) and you will need to be on a bus by 5:00 a.m. to guarantee you make it there on time.

There will be pacers that begin the course after the very last runner starts and they will be traveling at the 16 minute-mile pace that is required by runDisney.  If you get behind the pacers, you will most likely be "swept" off the course.  This means they will transport you back to the start/finish area by cart or vehicle.

It is recommended that you train at a 15 minute-mile pace (or faster) to allow time for photo stops, bathroom breaks, etc.  Also, starting as close to the front of your corral as possible will help give you a little extra time.  Even if you're in the last corral, you will have a small lead over the pacers by beginning at the front.

I hope this helps.  Please let me know if you have any other questions as you prepare for your family run-cation!
