My family is planning to visit Disney and stay at Disney in February of this year. My son is 6 and is not a big eater can my husband and I purchase the Disney dining plan and just pay out of pocket for him for each meal or must we all purchase the plan?

    Hi Danielle,

Your vacation is so close! I hope you are getting excited for a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort.

Unfortunately, you will need to purchase the Disney Dining Plan for your son if you and your husband are going to purchase the dining plan. Guests staying at Walt Disney World Resorts do not have the option of splitting their reservations to include some guests on the dining plan and some not. If they are listed on the reservation, then you need to have the same dining option.

However, there is nothing to say that you can not eat what he does not want to eat during a meal. For example, counter service meals come with options like grapes, carrots and a cookie. You can order them and then save them for later. Also, your snack options are not limited to the children's menu so anyone can order them and eat them. Your snack option can be a drink instead of food.

The real challenge is at dinner and you can simply not order what he will not eat or ask for it to go. I do find that the dining plan is about break-even for children even for the smallest eater.

    Wishing you a magical vacation!
