My family will only have one day to do Disneyland and California Adventure Park. We are having a hard time deciding between World of Color or Fantasmic. Our kids are 8 and 5. We did attend DisneyWorld's fireworks show last year. Thanks for any advice

    Hi, Kirsten!

Both Fantasmic! at Disneyland Park and World of Color at Disney California Adventure Park are amazing shows that incorporate music, water, fire, laser lights and projected scenes from Disney movies to create thrilling nighttime spectaculars. Fantasmic! features live Disney Characters—from princesses, to Peter Pan and Captain Hook, to Mickey himself—to tell a story about the battle between good and evil. During World of Color, Disney characters come to life on screens of water as more than 1,000 jets of water dance to the music and form a colorful medley of imagination.

Seeing Fantasmic! involves scouting out a spot on the Rivers of America prior to the show and either sitting or standing in designated areas. A Disney FASTPASS ticket for access to the standing-room-only viewing area is required for all World of Color showings, unless you have special tickets for reserved and preferred viewing areas that are part of the World of Color dining packages.

I think both shows would be entertaining for a 5-year-old and an 8-year-old, but I think the deciding factor is to consider which would appeal most to your children specifically—the live action characters of Fantasmic!, or the colorful fountains and movie projections of World of Color. My son is younger than your kids, but he seems to prefer Fantasmic! because he loves seeing his hero, Mickey, battle the villains. However, the bottom line is you can’t go wrong with either of these breathtaking water shows!
