Hello! My family is going to the magic kingdom next year in January and we have an autistic son. How does Disney parks accommodate families with kids with special needs who aren't able to wait in line? Thank you!

    Hi Stephanie,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I can imagine how excited your family is to be in the midst of planning a trip to the Walt Disney World Resort!

If you have not done so already, create a My Disney Experience Account. Then, add everyone in your family or group to that My Disney Experience Account through the My Family & Friends List. Once you have everyone added, purchase your theme park tickets and link them to that account. If you are staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel, you can make Fast Pass+ reservations 60 days in advance. If staying off property, you can make them 30 days in advance. Fast Pass+ allows you to, in advance, reserve a ride time window for up to three rides per day. You will still have to wait in line, but the Fast Pass+ line is usually much shorter than the standard one.

At present, you can use Fast Pass+ in addition to the Disability Access Service (DAS). Once you arrive, check-in with Guest Relations and request the Disability Access Service for your son. When we have used this service in the past, my husband registered for it and the girls and I have been able to ride with him. When you register, a cast member will confirm the number of additional family members allowed to ride with him. Once you have registered, any member of the family can approach a cast member at the entrance to a ride or attraction, explain that you have the Disability Access Service and request a return time for the ride. When you return, a cast member will have to scan your son's MagicBand first.

    Stephanie, I hope this helps!

Magic, memories and Minnie Mouse hugs,
