My family & I have our magic bands from our 2015 trip & hope to come back in 2021 (from Australia), would it be best to deactivate them and get new ones for our next trip? I assume the batteries would be dead after 6 years!

Hello, Melinda! Thanks for bringing another great question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

You may be surprised by the battery life of your MagicBands. My family and I still have ours from 2015, and they still work! Some of the “long-range” features like photos and/or videos for attractions like Seven Dwarfs Mine Train or Frozen Ever After might not work, but you should still be able to use your MagicBands for Theme Park admission, FastPass+ redemption and scanning for PhotoPass photographers.

As my fellow Panelist Terry mentioned, if you stay at an official Walt Disney World Resort hotel during your next visit, you’ll receive new, complimentary MagicBands with your stay. There’s no need to deactivate the ones you currently have either: you can have multiple MagicBands connected with each person in your My Disney Experience account. My family and I are Annual Passholders who visit Walt Disney World Resort frequently, and we tend to pick up new MagicBands during each trip. My daughter and I even love to match our MagicBands with our daily Theme Park outfits!

Please let us know if there are any additional questions we can answer for you as you plan your 2021 vacation, Melinda. That will be Walt Disney World Resort’s 50th anniversary, and it’s going to be an epic time to visit!
