Our family of 5 (kids 5,8, &9) are planning our 1st trip. Trying to decide between family suite at ASM or room at GF. Is the conv. of the monorail worth giving up the extra space in the room for?

Hi Pam! I'm a big fan of the deluxe resorts at Disney World, so it's probably no surprise that I'm answering your question with a resounding YES! If either a suite at the All-Star Music or a room at the Grand Floridian is in your budget, I'd choose the Grand Floridian, but not just because of the monorail service. You're right that it is convenient to be on the monorail line -- you can zip between your hotel and the Magic Kingdom in mere minutes (as opposed to thirty minutes or more on a bus from the All-Star resorts). However, there are lots of other benefits to staying at the Grand Floridian. The resort has several table-service restaurants, and you'll have many more at the Magic Kingdom and other monorail hotels within easy access. At the All-Star Music, you'd have only a food court and would have to hop on a bus to dine at a sit-down restaurant. While having two rooms and two bathrooms at the All-Star Music would be convenient, the 520-square-foot suite is not dramatically bigger than a room at the Grand Floridian, which averages 440 square feet.  Most rooms at the Grand Floridian also have a balcony or patio, which gives you more room to spread out, and the beds are plush and comfortable. There's plenty of storage, and even a clothes hamper for the dirty clothes. While rooms at the All-Star Music would meet your basic needs, the rooms and the grounds at the Grand Floridian are quite luxurious. At night you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks or the Electrical Water Parade from the beach at the Grand Floridian, and you can listen to a live orchestra play in the lobby.

If having two separate rooms for the parents and the kids or having a small kitchenette is of utmost importance to you, you would prefer the All-Star Music. However, if you appreciate luxury and convenient transportation, you'd love the Grand Floridian. Hope you have a magical vacation!
