We are a family of 6 (kids will be almost 8, 6, 3.5 and 3.5 when we visit). Ideally we will want to stay on the resort. What options exist? How can we make it affordable? Thanks :)

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I assure you that planning a Walt Disney World Resort vacation on a budget can be done! With a little bit of careful planning, you can create amazing memories with your family without breaking the bank. Staying at a Walt Disney World Resort is an excellent choice if you are flying, as they offer complimentary transportation from the airport directly to your hotel. And if you plan to drive, staying on property will entitle you to free parking in all of the parks!

For your family of six, I recommend either The Cabins at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort or Disney's Art of Animation Resort. Both locations offer plenty of room for your family and fantastic amenities to enjoy.

The cabins offer a fully-equipped kitchen, which would allow you to cook some of your meals to save a bit on your food budget. They are also a quick boat-ride away from Magic Kingdom Park, which is definitely convenient.

The Family Suites at Disney's Art of Animation Resort also sleep six and there you will be fully immersed in the colorful worlds of some of your favorite animated movies. This resort also has the largest pool in Walt Disney World so if your little ones hope to spend a lot of time swimming, it's an excellent choice. You can make many meals here as well, though they do not have ovens in the kitchenette.

To make the most of your budget, I recommend traveling during the week if possible to save on the slightly higher weekend room rates. You also have the option to bring snacks and drinks into the park as long as they aren't in glass containers. This has saved us a lot of money over the years.

I hope this gives you a few ideas for your magical vacation. Please let me know if I can help in any other way.
