Our family (husband, me, 6 and 2 year old sons, 4 year old daughter) are going to be in disney next week for our first visit. I have one meal a day planned, playing the rest by ear. Should I try to schedule more or just go with the flow?

    Annie,

I'm so happy for you!  A first visit is always exciting, but your kids are at especially fun ages to enjoy the magic.  I can say this because my three daughters are exactly the same ages, so I know how enthralled they will be with everything.

I think your meal planning sounds perfect!  In fact, we typically schedule one table service meal per day ourselves. With young children I think a scheduled break is important.  It gives us a chance to relax and refresh ourselves for more fun in the parks.  It can also be a great way to unwind and end an evening.

On the flip side, on the days we do have more than one meal scheduled we often feel harried.  It's easy to feel like you're spending your time planning around meals, and even for a foodie like me, that can be tiresome.  We also end up overeating and feeling sluggish most of the day, which isn't ideal.

Going with the flow is one of the best ways I know to experience Disney.  If you slow down, it's easier to see and feel the magic all around you, and that is what a WDW vacation is all about.

    Have a wonderful trip!
