Hi! Our family (me, husband, 2 boys) is booked on a 6 night Caribbean on Wonder. We have 2nd seating: I'd like to know more about Dine N'Play. Can you tell me more specifics about the dress code- will my sons be OK in khakis & a polo for formal night

    Welcome aboard, Casey!

I'm glad you asked about Dine n' Play, because many cruisers with young families are nervous about the idea of second seating dinner being so late. We've cruised since my son was three and we've decided that second seating is our favorite. Your kids will be wiped out from a long day of excitement around the ship and in port, so a late afternoon nap is always welcome (even for the parents)! Then, you can take your time getting ready for dinner, hopefully catch the Broadway style show first, grab a snack at one of the quick service food spots near the pool or even order from the complimentary room service menu. (Just be sure to tip the Cast Member who delivers your room service a few dollars, as that's traditionally done.) And before you know it, it'll be time for dinner.

Your server and assistant server will be sure that your kids' food arrives first. About 45 minutes to an hour into the seating, counselors from the Oceaneer Club and Lab will arrive at the doors to each of the three main dining restaurants to pick up any kids who are ready to go play. Simply check them in with those counselors and off they'll go to have fun in the clubs while you and your husband enjoy the rest of your meal. You'll know your kiddos are having the time of their lives in the clubs, and you won't feel guilty sneaking off for an after dinner cocktail or variety act.

Typically, formal night is the dressiest night of the sailing, so I'd recommend button down shirts (and ties if they'll put up with them) for your boys that night, but of course, Disney says that children's dress that night is at the parents' discretion. Typically, we have my son wear khakis and polo shirts on cruise casual nights and then dress him up a bit more for Formal and Semi-Formal night. Plus, it makes for some great family photos. You can tell them that even Mickey and his friends will be wearing their tuxedos that night!

    Have fun planning, Casey!
