My family and I are heading to Disneyland for the first time, what are some important things I need to know? I heard a lot of families stay at the hotels off property. Thanks

    Hi, Diane!

I suggest that you visit for at least three or four days to experience all the resort has to offer, from the lively Downtown Disney District to the theme parks. Fantasy Faire, a whimsical storybook village in Fantasyland, just opened this spring right next to Sleeping Beauty Castle. It’s an enchanting world where the stories of Disney's fairy tale princesses and princes come to life! Take a look at the Disneyland Resort website and decide on your “can’t miss” attractions, shows, and restaurants. Be sure to see Mickey and the Magical Map, a wonderful live show that just debuted at Fantasyland Theatre!

If you’re considering staying on-property, the Disneyland Resort Hotels have unique benefits. Paradise Pier Hotel is typically the least expensive and the rooms have a bright, beach-inspired décor. Rooms at the Disneyland Hotel are quite large and include chic, modern furnishings with a touch of Disney magic, including carved wooden headboards featuring fiber-optic fireworks that create an in-room light and music show with the flip of a switch! My personal favorite is Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa because it’s the closest to the parks and features a private entrance into Disney California Adventure Park.

In addition to the Disneyland Resort Hotels, there are also more than 40 Good Neighbor Hotels located near the resort. I’ve stayed at all of the Disneyland Resort Hotels and many of the neighboring hotels, and while I find the on-property resorts to be more convenient and enjoy taking advantage of Extra Magic Hours, the off-property hotels are within walking distance and can be a better fit depending on your budget.
I hope this helps, Diane, and that you have a perfectly pixie-dusted vacation to “The Happiest Place on Earth!” Please write back with more questions as you continue to plan.

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
