Hi, My family ( grandchildren 15,6,&2) and I will travel 10-12 hrs by car at night and go directly to Magic Kingdom upon arrival in the morning. Our room reservations couldn't accommodate the extra night we needed Your opinion on this plan?

    Hi Joy,

How fantastic that you are taking your three grandchildren on a special trip to Walt Disney World. This will surely be a trip which you will look back upon fondly for many yEARs to come!

Joy, my first thought in reading your proposed plan was to help you brainstorm another option. Driving all night and then immediately embarking upon a Walt Disney World vacation with three children, including a young toddler, is definitely not for the faint of heart. I fear you would likely start the trip quite tired, and your experience would be compromised as a result. You definitely want to be in peak form throughout the trip in order to keep up with three excited grandchildren!

If your preferred Resort is unavailable for your intended first night stay, I recommend that you contact Disney Reservations to see if another Resort hotel may be available. Even in the unlikely event there were no Walt Disney World rooms available within your budget, I would suggest that you consider booking another local hotel for the first night. Be sure as well to keep periodically checking back with Disney as inventory does change and a room may subsequently become available.

Joy, if you haven't already done so, you will want to set up My Disney Experience accounts for yourself and your three grandchildren. FastPass+ selections can be made starting 60 days prior to your Disney Resort hotel check in date, and Disney Dining Reservations can be made starting 180 days in advance.

Wishing you the best of luck securing a room for the first night of your trip, as well as a magical upcoming vacation with your grandchildren!
