Hi Moms ... We are a family of 4 (2 girls, ages 11 & 7), and we have never been on a Disney Cruise before! I would like to know if you can tell me the least expensive times to go on the cruise & is a short or longer cruise better as 1st-timers?

Great to hear from you, Sharon -

Thanks for stopping by the Moms Panel. Do your little girls like Princesses? Do they love the Disney movies and have favorite Disney characters? If any of these apply, then I think you're on the right track in planning for a Disney Cruise in the near future. What a great plan you're brewing!

I've found in the past, that Disney Cruises have peak times during the holidays and during the summer months. These are usually the times when kids are out of school. Since you are in Florida, you are likely not too far away from Port Canaveral or the Port of Miami, the home ports for a couple of the Disney Cruise ships. The 3 or 4 night voyages out of Port Canaveral on the Disney Dream is a great introduction to cruising. It gives you a taste of what is offered on the Disney Cruise, and it also allows you and your family to get a feel of what it's like on a big ship. There will be lots of activities, and you're likely to want to book your next one before you even disembark. I personally love the longer cruises (7+ days), since it gives me a little bit more downtime while on the cruise ship.

This link on the main Disney Cruise Line site will help you Find a Cruise so that you can check out pricing, availability and itineraries. You can play around with a few dates as well as destinations. You can also check pricing on the different types of staterooms that are available on any of the magical ships on the fleet. There's a lot of family fun and activities that are already included in a Disney Cruise. I hope that you find a voyage that fits.

    Happy planning!
