We are a family of five and I read that he toy story mania cars seat 4. Will I be able to hold my son on my lap? He is four and has special needs, that way I don't have to worry about how we spilt everyone up.

    Hi Tara,

No worries. The Toy Story Mania cars have bench-style seating. The cars have two game controllers per side, but since there are no defined "seats" you could actually squeeze three guests in if two of them are children. The downside to having three guests in the seat is that not all of them would have their own controller. I'm guessing that this is a situation where mom will take one for the team.

Based on the way the lap bar comes down, it might be difficult for you to hold a 4-year-old during the ride, but you would be able to put him on the seat next to you.

I also have a family of five. You may want to take a look at an article I wrote for the independent website blog.touringplans.com called "Avoiding the Odd Man Out at Walt Disney World." I list every ride in the parks and discuss how the seating configurations there impact families with odd numbers of members.

Another great resource for parents of special needs children is the book Passporter's Open Mouse for Walt Disney World, available on Amazon. This gives lots of great tips on navigating the parks with medical challenges.

Good luck with your planning. Please let us know if you have additional questions.
