My family of five (2 adults, a 13 year old girl, 6 year old boy and 20 month old boy) are traveling to WDW this Saturday. I have tried so hard to work in nap time back at the room but I know that is not going to always work out. Suggestions in the parks?

    Hi Heidi,

Wow, your vacation is almost here! As a Mother of 4 I have plenty of experience with napping toddlers in the Walt Disney World theme parks. Don't worry, it's easier than you think.

First make sure that you have a stroller that reclines flat. The strollers for rent inside of Walt Disney World do not recline, so either bring your own or rent one that does from one of the Disney authorized stroller renters. Next make sure to find a cool and shady spot. It doesn't have to be completely quiet as often the park's ambient sounds help children fall asleep. However stay away from obvious intrusive sounds such as loud clangs and bells. Finally just keep strolling until your little one falls asleep and then find a shady spot to rest yourself. Bonus points if you bring a treat to enjoy while your little guy rests!

There are so many areas that are great for an in-park break, however these are some of my favorites:
    • Magic Kingdom:  Tom Sawyer Island, Tomorrowland Terrace area, Tangled rest area/charging area, and the Tomorrowland Transit Authority (without a stroller)
    • Epcot:  United Kingdom Pavilion gardens, outside the Boulangerie Patisserie, next to the Innoventions Fountains, and inside The Seas With Nemo & Friends Pavilion
    • Animal Kingdom: Discovery Island Trails, Conservation Station, next to Flame Tree Barbecue, and near Dinosaur!
    • Disney's Hollywood Studios:  beside Echo Lake, outside ABC Commissary, along Streets of America, and with a Butterfinger cupcake outside Starring Rolls Café (wait until the little guy is asleep or you might have to share)!

Don't forget about the Baby Care Centers in each park, they can be a life-saver!

    Blessings,
