Mom And Son On Run

Hello! We are a family of 4 going on our first trip to DW at the end of Sept - I have 2 boys, ages 8 & 5. Some people have told me that they both might be too young to enjoy Epcot. Was just wondering your thoughts on Epcot & if my boys would enjoy

    Renee:

I would have to disagree with the folks that told you your sons were too young for Epcot.... with three sons, now ages 5 to 12, Epcot is probably one of their favorite parks. Here's why:

    • Soarin': Even our youngest can ride this glider-simulator that takes you above the sights below. If you end up waiting in its line, take part in the interactive games in the ARTWORK of the walls--no joke!
    • Test Track: Fast & Furious enough for my guys, we love to pose for the picture right before the speed track at the end.
    • Mission: Space: Another headline attraction your group will enjoy. I'd go for the green line first for your 5-year-old, as the orange line may be too intense.
    • Innoventions: These buildings house many activities that a top-notch Children's Museum would carry. I think it's one of the most under-appreciated areas at Disney. Check out the recycle game with your 5-year-old while your 8-year-old builds his own simulated rollercoaster or snowmobile--and then rides it!
    • Spaceship Earth: Don't walk out the exit without visiting the interactive games, like electronic shuffleboard. Again, many will walk by and totally miss another under-appreciated area.
    • Cool Zone: What kid wouldn't want to taste-test soft drinks from around the world? As much as he wanted? For FREE?
    • Small touches in World Showcase: From the church in Norway that houses the story of the Vikings, to the working train near Germany and the fish ponds of Japan, each country has respites that will intrigue youngsters--IF you take your time. Two of our kids' favorites: the candy lady in Japan (get there 15 minutes early, stand near the rope in the center and she may make YOU an animal) and the acrobats of China.
    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
