Hello, my family is excited to visit WDW on August of 2015 and It'll be our first time! My question is what is the difference in Fast Pass and the Magic Band. I am exploring the site and wanted to know the difference and benefits of both. Thank you so much

    Hi Rocio!

If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort, you will receive complimentary MagicBands.  These are rubber like bracelets that act as your tickets, room key and as your payment method.  So instead of carrying around a room key card, tickets and a credit card, you have everything you need right on your wrist.

FastPass+ is an awesome way to make the most out of your time while playing in the Walt Disney World parks.  Basically FastPass+ is like a reservation for attractions that allow you to select a time to ride ahead of time and skip the standby line.  You are given a one hour window to enter the FastPass+ queue for your selected attraction.  If you are staying at a Walt Disney World resort, you can make your FastPass+ selections 60 days in advance.  If you are staying off property, you can make your selections 30 days in advance.  You are initially allowed to choose three attractions per day.  Once you have used your three selections, you can choose more from the in-park FastPass+ kiosks.  This is an excellent way to plan your days ahead of time.

How do MagicBands and FastPass+ work together?  The FastPass+ queues have MagicBand readers.  You place your MagicBand on the reader when your time slot has opened, the light will turn green and you'll be directed towards the attraction entrance.  For example, say you have a FastPass+ for Space Mountain between 1pm and 2pm.  Head on over to Space Mountain at any time during that hour and enter where it says FastPass+.  Place your MagicBand on the reader and then enjoy the ride!  Gotta love technology!

    Have a magical day!
