My family has been to Disneyland numerous times because we're from California. We're going to WDW for the 1st time and I was wondering which park would be best to experience WDW? (Family= 2 adults, 16 yr old and 11 yr old)

I was born and raised in California too!  The frequent trips my family took to Walt's Park when I was a kid sparked my passion for all things Disney so of course I was thrilled with the opportunity to visit Disney World for the first time in 2001.  When I passed through the gates and walked down Main Street I felt as though I'd come home again, only someone rearranged the furniture.  I think you too will feel strangely familiar with the Magic Kingdom, in spite of never having been there before.  Likewise, a visit to Disney's Hollywood Studios will be reminiscent of California Adventure, though the similarities won't be as noticeable as those between Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom.  Based on your question, it sounds like you are looking to visit just one park.  The best I can do is narrow your choices to 2.  I'd say that since you are so familiar with the Disneyland resort, a stop at either the Animal Kingdom or Epcot would give you a taste of something entirely new and unique to Walt Disney World.

I'd be remiss if I didn't mention the biggest difference between Disneyland and Walt Disney World: it's the experience as a whole.  It's touring the many resort hotels and taking time to appreciate the details in theming at each one.  It's dining in a variety of restaurants, from the whimsical to the elite.  It's hopping from one park to the next and experiencing a magical new world within each one.  It's tasting a snack from each of the countries in Epcot's World Showcase.  It's taking advantage of parasailing, a hot stone massage, and horseback riding, all without stepping foot off of Disney property.

Once you go, I'm sure you'll agree that both of these places are magical and unforgettable, each with a charm and personality of their own!
