    Kristine from NY Asked

Hi! My family of 5 is going to Disney World for Thanksgiving! My parents decided to join us. I already have all the dining booked and got some places I don't want to give up. Is there a way to add them to existing reservations? Thanks!

Hi Kristine! This happens a lot with families when trips are planned and the excitement nears and it draws other family members to want to join in.

I strongly suggest you do NOT give up all the dining reservations that you have already made. Thanksgiving week at Walt Disney World is a very busy time and the chances might be that you won't get those reservations back again. I have found that even if I find a time for the larger group number that matches what I need when I go back to make it after canceling the other it is gone. When that happens you can hear me scream anywhere across the state.

What I do when extra people decide to join us is I head to Disney Dining and try to find a new reservation at the same time using the new guests (your parents) My Disney Experience profile. As long as they have not been linked to you this can be done and you will end up with two reservations for hopefully at approximately the same time. When you go to check in at the restaurant let them know that the two reservations are together and if they could please seat you near each other if not at the same table. With seven persons total you might have two tables of four which works out great.

To make dining meals fun consider doing what my family does when we sit down as a group. We have nametags that we pull to decide who is going to sit at each table and next to which person. It makes it fun and allows the kids and the adults time to share in all the excitement of the day.
