My family and I are going on our 1st Disney Cruise in December. We are from Iowa so we will be well into our winter. What SPF do you recomend I get when buying sunscreen? I want to come back with a tan but don't want to deal with sunburns on our trip.

    Hi Elizabeth,

Welcome to the Moms Panel!  Personally, I think that I would be more cautious traveling in the winter months than the summer months.  The lack of sun exposure at home during the winter months would tend to make you more susceptible to burning while on vacation.

It is my understanding that the bare minimum you should use is SPF 15, and then the higher the SPF the longer you can go before needing to reapply.

Personally, I always bring plenty of sunscreen, sunglasses and hats while visiting the beautiful Caribbean - you can never be too careful when it comes to the sun.

    Have a great time!
