My family has a cruise scheduled for Jan. 2016 on the 4 night Bahamian cruise. I have a 16 yr old, 6 yr old twins and 3 yr old twins. Do you have suggestions of something the whole family can do when we port at Nassau?

    Ahoy, Angela!

How exciting that your family will be sailing with Captain Mickey and the gang in just a few short months! A 4-Night cruise to the Bahamas is awesome, since it includes a day at sea, which is my favorite!

Be sure to encourage your 16 year old to head to the teen club, Vibe, on the first evening of your cruise. This is the night where the counselors will introduce everyone and they will play lots of "get to know you" games. My 15 year old LOVED spending time in Vibe on our cruise in July. She even participated in "The Wild Side Teen Adventure" on Castaway Cay.

Your younger three will love hanging out in the Oceaneer Lab and Oceaneer Club. The Disney Dream has some brand new areas, like Star Wars: Millennium Falcon, that are sure to delight children of all ages. My favorite area is Andy's room. Be sure to head to the kids clubs during open house hours so that the adults can check it all out, too!

Our family has been to Nassau quite a few times. We have only gotten off the ship one time, and we just went shopping and wandered around. After some research, I have decided that I want to try the "Blue Lagoon Island Beach Day" the next time I am in Nassau. It looks like a lovely island paradise, suitable for all ages. You might want to pack some beach toys if you plan to do this. And, should you decide to stay onboard, there are plenty of activities to keep a family occupied all day.

I hope this helps with your cruise planning! Please come back and visit us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel with more questions before your family sets sail!

    Happy Cruising, Tracy V.
