    Monica from OH Asked

Hello, my family is coming to WDW in mid April. We are leaving from Lorain,OH and was wondering if any has made a trip from this area and did they drive straight through best route, and how long did it take? We have 2 kids 9 and 5 going too.

    Hi there Monica!

My extended family has made the very same "straight through" drive from Northeast Ohio to Orlando a few times. I also drive with my family from Charlotte, NC to Orlando a couple of times each year. The easiest, most direct route is typically: 77 North through the states of Ohio, West Virginia, Virginia and North Carolina (8 hours at this point) to 26 East through South Carolina then, 95 South through the remainder of South Carolina, Georgia and into Florida. (Be sure to stop at the Official Florida Visitors Welcome Center for some free orange or grape fruit juice samples as well as some fun travel brochures!) Your last highway would be 4 West which will take you through the City of Orlando and then you'll start seeing those exciting Walt Disney World Resort exits. Total drive time will be somewhere around 18 hours although with stops, traffic and rest breaks, you might be looking at longer.

Be sure to check out some fun resources on the unofficial website www.mousesavers.com for help in making the miles fly past almost as quickly as Tinkerbell in Pixie Hollow. Simply type in "Road Trip" in the search box at the top of the page.

Thanks for taking the time to visit us at the Walt Disney World Moms Panel and feel free to send more questions our way in the days leading up to your trip! May your Disney vacation be practically perfect in every way!
