Our family is coming in October for our first trip, I could use help on the Fastpass. Since I don't know the parks how do figure out what rides and what time the FP should be for? What happens if we miss the time or ride?

Hello Bridget. You must be so excited for your first visit in October! I hope you are planning to attend Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, or if you aren't, I hope you'll consider it.

Since you don't know the parks I suggest that you sit down and take the time to peruse the Walt Disney World Vacation Planning Website. If you look under the "Things To Do" tab you will click on Attractions. Once you get to the attractions page, there are a few filter tabs across the top that will help you decide which attractions will fit your family. For example, if your family has a little one who has a height restriction, you can click the "Height" filter tab and it will provide you with attractions that are suited for that specific height. I also suggest looking up ride through videos on YouTube. You can get a good idea of what a ride experience will be by watching the video. If all else fails, you can always come back to us here at the Moms Panel and we would be glad to give you suggestions based on the ages in your family and any particular interests you may have.

You don't really get to pick a specific time for your FastPass+ selections. When you go to reserve your FastPass+ selections, they will give you a few different time combinations to choose from. You will get your three attractions choices, but they will pick times for you.  After you make a selection you can go back in and individually change it to a time that better suits your needs based on availability. FastPass+ windows are an hour long, and you can usually arrive up to 5 minutes before the window starts and you can be up to 15 minutes late. If you do happen to miss your window you lose that FastPass+ opportunity.

Feel free to stop by with any more questions and let us know if you'd like attraction suggestions. Have a magical day!
