We are a family of 4. The children will be 14 and 12 at time of travel, christmas 2012. To see absolutely everything in the Orlando area, all parks and other attractions as well, how much time would you recommend we spend in that area?

    Hi Cathy:

Disney World consists of four theme parks, two water parks, and a "downtown" shopping and entertainment district. There are also plenty of other activities to enjoy such as golf, mini-golf, watercraft rentals, spas and other activities. Simply put, even if you dedicated a week at just Walt Disney World, not only is there no easy way to see everything without missing anything, I would say it's impossible to see everything in a week. If you want to take in other activities in the Orlando area, you can double or triple the amount of time you'll need to spend in the Orlando area.

My best advice would be to think about spending a week at Walt Disney World. While you won't be able to take in every single attraction, you'll have plenty of time to spend in the parks. To get a jump on planning, I would stop by Disney World's in-depth planning page for first time visitors. My best advice would be not to concern yourself with seeing everything. Rather, plan ahead, make your dining reservations 180 days in advance, and also follow your childrens' pace and enjoy.
