Hi! My family is going to buy DVC in September! We are planning to take our first trip to Walt Disney World! We wanted to stay in the GF villas and we would be able to book in November. Will we have any trouble booking a studio for 1 week with a Lake view?

    Hi Marlee,

Congratulations on your decision to become a Disney Vacation Club Member! I am excited for the opening of The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. My guess is that this is going to be really popular resort. Also, it is not a particularly big resort. I would guess that it is going to be quite hard to get a reservation at The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa for a while. You did not mention if this will be your home resort. If it is, you probably have a better chance of getting a reservation, since you can make reservations at eleven months ahead of your check in date at your home resort. If it is not going to be your home resort, you would be able to make reservations at seven months ahead of your check in date, which makes it less likely that you would get the reservation.

Here is what I recommend: if The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa is your home resort, call Disney Vacation Club Member Services at 1-800-800-9800 at eleven months before your check in date to see if you can get the reservation. If it is not your home resort, book your home resort at eleven months ahead of your check in date (or as soon as you join Disney Vacation Club). Then, when your seven month window opens up, call Member Services to see if you can move your reservation. Also, think about if you are willing to do a split stay. Maybe The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa will have availability for part of your stay, and you can stay at another Disney Vacation Club resort for the rest of your stay. I think that once The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa are open for a while, it will become easier to get a reservation. If you cannot secure a reservation there for this first trip, enjoy another resort and stay at The Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa on another vacation. One of the great things about Disney Vacation Club is that you can return again and again!
