Hi my family are going to the AKL in Oct for two weeks, our first WDW holiday. As a Disney Resort guest do i need to book breakfast in advance at AKL, and do i also need to book every counter service meal AND table service meal in advance? Thanks!!

    Hi Lewis!

The Animal Kingdom Lodge is a fabulous place to stay; my youngest son, age 7, absolutely loves everything about the resort.  It is has two great Table Service restaurants and a nice food court.  It also has a lot of special activities for guests of all ages.  Enjoy staying there!

With regards to Table Service restaurants, you should definitely make Advanced Dining Reservations (ADRs).   They are almost required these days, especially during the busier times of the year.  That will be especially true for the two great restaurants at the Animal Kingdom Lodge:  Boma and Jiko.  That said, you should try and walk up if you can't get a reservation for a place you really want to try, especially if it is a restaurant in a resort hotel.  But the best bet is to make an ADR for any place you want to dine at.  ADRs can be made online or by calling (407) WDW-DINE.  Reservations can be made up to 180 days in advance and some of the most popular restaurants actually fill up close to that!

Counter Service (also known as Quick Service) restaurants do not need a reservation.  They are basically akin to fast food places (or like a food court in a mall) that you may be familiar with at home.

I hope this helps!  Write back if you have any more questions!
