We're a family of 2 adults, 4 yr old and twin 2.5 yr olds. I've heard conflicting things about using Fast pass with Rider switch. If both parents want to ride with the 4yr old how many fast passes do we need to use?

    Hi Sarahbeth!

Welcome BACK to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! How exciting that you're taking your family back to the Most Magical Place on Earth! I just returned from Walt Disney World Resort a month ago with my own almost three-year-old, so I have fresh experience with this juggling act.

For both parents to experience the same attraction with your older child using Disney's Rider Switch Service and a FastPass+ reservation, everyone in the party will need to schedule a FastPass+ selection for the same attraction. (You won't necessarily have to schedule the exact same time, but you might as well to avoid re-walking to the same area later on.) In this scenario the child will use their FastPass+ reservation on the first turn with Parent A, and the Rider Switch pass will allow the child to then enjoy the same attraction with Parent B.

There is some advice on the internet that suggests Parent A schedule their attraction reservations with the child and Parent B do nothing in advance. Then, when at Walt Disney World Resort both Parent B and the child can enjoy those attractions together using the Rider Switch passes picked up by Parent A from the child's scheduled turn. While Rider Switch passes are valid for up to three guests, this strategy will create an imbalance of FastPass+ reservations later on. Because Parent A and the child will have utilized all of their selections, Parent B would have to schedule and experience their reservations solo in order to collect the Rider Switch pass to give to those who waited behind.

Pro Tip: Here's the list of attractions that offer Rider Switch.

We'll See You Real Soon, Sarahbeth!
