My family, 4 adults and 2 children, are coming to WDW in Feb 2012. We can't decide whether to stay at a Disney Resort or rent one of the 3 bedroom homes surrounding city. Which do you think is best? We don't want the kids to be over excited by WDW 24/7.

    Hi Cindy!

My family and I always stay in a Walt Disney World Resort whenever we can.  It's fun staying within the magic and there are a lot of perks, including Extra Magic Hours.  However, sometimes we do stay offsite and that's usually because we want more room or we just can't afford to stay on property (or both).  If you want a lot of room, then it is more economically to stay off site.  Just remember that you will need a rental car or some other form of transportation to get to and from the theme parks.  Also, keep in mind that you can't go to Extra Magic Hours, so you should plan your trip to not be any park having Extra Magic Hours that day.

I recommend working with an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner to help you plan your trip.  He or she is a travel agent that specializes in trips to Walt Disney World, Disneyland, on the Disney Cruise Line, or with Adventures by Disney.  He or she can help with either on site properties or off site!  Most importantly, he or she can help you do the math and compare the pros and cons of each!

Good luck with your decision and write back if you have any more questions!
