This will be our families first trip to WDW in June 2011. My 8 yr old daughter has arthritis and I am concerned that if she would become ill on our trip, is there medical facilities near by that she could be seen? We are staying at Port Orleans.

Hi Heather! How exciting that your family is visiting Disney World for the first time in just a few months! I hope your daughter's arthritis won't give her any problems during your trip, but if it does, there are medical facilities close to Walt Disney World. My own family has dealt with various ailments on our trips and we've had to make multiple trips to the Centra Care located near the Downtown Disney area, very close to the Port Orleans. It's an urgent care facility open seven days a week, and we've always had good experiences there. You can also call the front desk of your resort and arrange for a doctor to come to your hotel room, although this service is more expensive than making the trip to Centra Care. Finally, if you have an emergency or serious medical issue, there is a hospital in nearby Celebration.

I hope your first visit to Disney World is magical! Come visit us again at the Moms Panel if you have more questions! We're happy to help!
