Famiily of 4 first visit "children 7 and 11" Sep 10-17. We are on a tight budget and I am feeling stressed that I have nothing planned. Should I do a meal plan? Looking for the best times to hit what park on what day?

At this point, I would not advise you to purchase a meal plan. The basic dining plan offers a decent savings, but it includes one table service meal per day. Disney begins accepting reservations 180 days in advance, so at this point most restaurants are likely to be full. You could still purchase the quick service dining plan, but it does not seem to offer much savings, from what I have seen.

Personally, I would opt to pay out of pocket for meals and snacks as I go, and skip the purchase of a dining plan. If on a future visit you'd like to try one, you could start planning 4-6 months in advance and have better luck getting the reservations you want.

As for a touring plan, again, I would not say that is necessary at this time of year. You're visiting in the off season, so you won't find large crowds making it difficult to navigate. I suggest you either rise early and hit the parks at opening, or stay up late and close the park down. You'll find the lowest crowds very early and very late in the day. And of course take advantage of Extra Magic Hours as well! Make sure you visit your 'must-dos' early in the day so that everyone will be able to leave happy, knowing they visited their favorite attraction.

    Have fun!
