My fam is trying to plan a trip to WDW! If we get there on a mon morning and leave on a thurs. morning is there a way to book a package but not have to pay for park tickets and a dining plan for the day we leave since it is so early? Thanks for your help!

    Hi Siani,

How exciting!  Planning family trips to Walt Disney World is so much fun!

You are certainly welcome to book a room-only reservation at a Disney resort if that works better for your family.  Theme park tickets can be purchased separately either through Disney or from a reputable third party vendor like AAA.  On occasion, I have purchased my tickets at AAA to save a few dollars.

There are more rules about using the Disney Dining Plan, though.  The Disney Dining Plan can only be added to a Disney vacation package if a guest is purchasing theme park tickets as part of your package. (Exceptions are made for Disney Vacation Club members and Annual Pass holders.)  The Disney Dining Plan cannot be added for parts of your vacation.  You are required to add the Disney Dining Plan for the entire length of your stay if you wish to use it at all.  However, the number of dining plan credits you have to use is based on the number of nights you'll be staying in a Disney resort, not the number of days you'll be there. (That means you'll have three sets of credits per person to use during your vacation.)  Therefore, you don't technically have credits to use on the last day of your visit.  Keep in mind that you are welcome to use your dining plan credits on any day of your visit as long as they have all been used by midnight on your day of check-out.

Let me know if you need any additional tips for using your Disney Dining Plan.  My family loves the flexibility and savings it offers us on our Walt Disney World vacations.

    Best wishes,
    Jill
