We are a fam of 4, kids 3.5 yr and 7 mnth. We are looking for a resort that is convenient to go back and forth from for rests throughout the day, need a microwave and fridge and a patio. Looking at Floridian and Villas at WL. Which would you recommend?

    Hi Sarah,

You are considering two lovely resorts. I have stayed at both The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge and Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. The Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge are themed to the railroad hotels of the American West in the 1860's. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa recalls the wonder of the Victorian era.

Your need for a microwave, refrigerator, and patio should be able to be handled at both resorts. Microwaves and refrigerators will be standard in a villa at Disney's Wilderness Lodge. You will need to note a request for a microwave if you choose Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Please do note that while Disney will do their best to honor all requests, they are not guaranteed. To my knowledge, all of the rooms at both resorts have patios or balconies.

The need to request a microwave is assuming that you are speaking of the hotel side of Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa. Soon, the Villas at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa will open, and you could try to book a villa there. If you do get a villa, the microwave will be included.

It may be your need for ease of access to the theme parks that is the deciding factor. Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa has a monorail stop right in it, which means that Magic Kingdom is a monorail ride away, and Epcot is easily accessed with one change of monorail. You would need to take a bus to Disney's Hollywood Studios or Disney's Animal Kingdom. From the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge, you would need to take a boat or bus to Magic Kingdom, and a bus to Epcot, Disney's Hollywood Studios, or Disney's Animal Kingdom. Given the ages of your children, if you plan to spend the most time in Magic Kingdom, I think that the monorail access from Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa would be excellent.

Have a great time planning your trip, Sarah, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
