Can you explain Rider Switch? It will be my husband, 12 & 10 yr old needing to ride. Do I need stay in line with my 2 yr old as well for them to switch or can we venture to do other things?

Hey there, Erika! Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Erika, as a mom of two kids that have a wide age gap, we have come to be best of friends with the Rider Switch Service. This convenient service allows the family to split up and take turns riding their favorite attractions while the guests that are not quite tall enough or chose not to ride can enjoy the parks while they wait.

Here’s how it works. When you arrive at the attraction that you want to use Rider Switch, simply alert the Cast Member and be sure to have your little one with you. The group taking the first turn will receive a lanyard they will take with them through the queue and before they board the attraction they will exchange it for a paper FastPass+ for up to three guests to use at a later time. At this time the party waiting outside can enjoy other tiny Mouseketeer friendly attractions, a snack, or even a nice break at one of the Baby Care Centers located in all four theme parks. Once the first group is done, the second will be able to use that paper FastPass+ to enjoy the ride with little to no wait. And if your older kids are like mine, they’ll be big fans of Rider Switch when they realize they’ll be able to ride their favorite attractions twice!

You can also pair Rider Switch with a pre-booked FastPass+. The process will be the same but both groups will be able to enjoy the attraction using the FP+ queue, saving you time so you can enjoy even more of the magic!

I hope this helped explain this magical and super helpful service. If you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to come back and see us. It’s our pleasure to help you as you plan an unforgettable visit to the place where the magic is endless.
